Trinity Rodman is the youngest soccer player ever drafted in NWSL history, the frontrunner to win Rookie of the Year, and now the 19-year-old has her Washington Spirit team one win away from its first-ever championship. Wow!
Rodman tied for most assists (6) and for most direct goal contributions (goals + assists, 12) in 2021. Her six scores all came from inside of the box – no surprise due to her no-fear attitude and technical abilities. TBH, her performance this season should have garnered her MVP looks.
She posted 20 starts while playing in 23 games, solidifying herself as a staple in the Washington offense alongside Ashley Sanchez and Golden Boot Winner and MVP candidate Ashley Hatch.
It’s a shame that you Google Trinity Rodman, and the first thing that comes up is a moment with her father, NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman. Trinity opened up about their strained relationship on Instagram.
Rodman is much more than the daughter of a star. She is one herself.
Her goal in the final match of the regular season was the dagger to clinch home field advantage as the No. 3 seed in the tournament. And in the semifinal, she notched her seventh goal of the season, earning yet another accolade as the youngest player ever to score in the playoff.
All that before age 20! Whew. Watch out for her on Saturday!
