First-Team All-American Ochai Agbaji is that guy for Jayhawk basketball. He was raining from deep in Kansas’ double-digit dub over Villanova, and he’s been dominant all tournament long averaging 14 points, five rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.4 blocks. When he’s firing, he sets the tone for the KU box store, and as the favorite to win the natty, his odds seem likely.
Just call him Clutch Caleb. When UNC needs him the most, he steps up, which is why he scored 23 points on the strength of six 3s to open the tourney. He did it again with 30 points – 28 in the second half – in the Sweet 16, and then exploded for 22 points in the second half against the Blue Devils, with a three-pointer late to ice the game. We have a feeling that Love is in the air if the Heels can pull off the upset.
Big man Armando Bacot tallied his 30th double-double (!!) of the season when the Tar Heels sent Coach K home (11 points, 21 rebounds). Bacot’s skills crashing the boards are ESSENTIAL to UNC’s success. The junior forward averages a team-leading 12.8 rebounds and has pulled down 43 boards in his last two games. As one of the team’s top post players, he’s a strong candidate, but we’re not totally sure how his ankle will fare after rolling it against Duke in the Final 4.
