Sportsbooks finally updated their NCAA women’s odds ahead of this month’s tournament. Fun! Most had gone months without changing potential payouts, and Gaming Society advised you to take advantage. Hope you did!Alas, here is one book’s current top-5, and how you should value each team’s odds.
+180 (bet $100 to win $180)
There isn’t a ton to say here except, uh, yeah! The Gamecocks are undeniably the top team in the nation having only one loss in overtime (!!) to Missouri. Aliyah Boston is the most dominant player in the country, and Dawn Staley looks ready to cut down the nets.
Takeaway: While SC is the most likely team to win, there isn’t much betting value here
+600 (bet $100 to win $600)
The reigning champs haven’t lost a game in the year 2022. You have to go back to Dec. 21 to find their last ‘L’ against No. 1 SC. With their whole squad returning from last season except Kiana Williams, there’s definitely a chance they repeat.
Takeaway: There’s a maybe-too-big gap between No. 1 and 2 given the tournament’s unpredictability. This team is built to win it all, too. There’s good value here
+700 (bet $100 to win $700)
We told you to capitalize on NC State’s odds in January at +1500, and we’re still in on them now. The Wolfpack have lost just three games all year by a total of 14 points
Takeaway: With seven top-25 wins including a big one over Louisville, NC State is tourney-ready
+750 (bet $100 to win $700)
The books are betting big on Paige Bueckers’ return from a knee injury suffered in December. In two games back, she’s played just 26 minutes combined and scored 10 points, so it’s no sure thing she’ll be at 100 percent by the end of the month. Remember: the Huskies went 15-4 without her
Takeaway: These odds are too high for a team that hasn’t looked all that this year
+1000 (bet $100 to win $1,000)
The Cardinals have dropped a mere three games by a total of 12 points all season and won nine games against top-25 opponents. Five of those games were by double-digits!! When Louisville gets hot, it doesn’t cool off. Only NC State has beaten them by more than one possession.
Takeaway: These odds look too good to pass up. Congrats if you locked into the +3000 odds from six weeks ago
