The No. 13 Vermont Catamounts may be named after a newly-extinct cougar-esque cat, but their men’s hoops team is as fresh and modern as they come, making for a prime upset pick in Thursday night’s game against the No. 4 Arkansas Razorbacks. Take that, one-semester transfer Ben Affleck.
Sure, Arkansas will be the toughest team Vermont’s faced all season, but with walk-on-turned-star Ben Shungu as the heart and soul of this group with 16.1 points per game on 41.4% 3-point shooting, the Catamounts could be this year’s Cinderella team.
One thing’s for sure: they have the winning formula. With 43.1% of all of their field goal attempts coming from 3-point territory (No. 54 in the nation), and 36.8% of those looks going in, if UVM pulls it off, it’ll likely be at the hands of a long distance barrage 💥
