WNBA power rankings: Week 1
It’s so early. Don’t be mad.

With each team only playing one or two games, please do not get angry at me for how I power rank them. Everything can and will wildly change.
Ok, now that that is settled.
1. Las Vegas Aces, 2-0
The offense looks fire; A’ja Wilson is going to star as a full-time center; Kelsey Plum is springy; Chelsea Gray is a Point God. I’m kinda loving their vibes after knocking off the Mercury and Storm handily.
2. Washington Mystics, 2-0
They won with Elena Delle Donne playing like an All-Star and with her resting on the bench. Shakira Austin can play and Natasha Cloud is a SHOOTER.
3. Los Angeles Sparks, 2-0
A win over a (short-handed) Sky team feels good, and a W over Indiana was expected. Liz Cambage looks comfy and a healthy Nneka Ogwumike is a good sight. I don’t want to overhype them just yet, though.
4. Chicago Sky, 0-1
They lost on a questionable foul call that led to an unnecessary overtime against the Sparks, and that was without Allie Quigley and Kahleah Copper. They’ll be fine.
5. New York Liberty, 1-0
In a healthy Sabrina Ionescu, I trust. A win over the Sun has to feel nice.
6. Seattle Storm, 1-1
They beat the mega short-handed Lynx, but looked super lost against the Aces. A slow start isn’t uncommon for them, so I’m not worried.
7. Connecticut Sun, 0-1
Alyssa Thomas balled out against New York, but Natasha Howard kept Jonquel Jones (relatively) contained. While they were missing Courtney Williams, NY was without Betnijah Laney.
8. Atlanta Dream, 1-0
Rhyne Howard. Enough said. Could she lead this team to a backend playoff spot? Sure, Dallas was without Satou Sabally, but Atlanta was missing Tiffany Hayes.
9. Phoenix Mercury, 0-1
I’ll say it. I’m worried for how this team is going to defend without Brittney Griner. Luckily, Brianna Turner and Diamond DeShields are back tomorrow.
10. Dallas Wings, 0-1
No Satou, but a crumby game from Arike Ogunbowale made them tough to watch. Dallas has to be better than this.
11. Minnesota Lynx, 0-2
I mean ew. They’ve looked really bad losing two games by 35 combined points. Kayla McBride can’t come back soon enough. I hope Angel McCoughtry’s first game back isn’t indicative of what she’ll be like all season coming back from another injury.
12. Indiana Fever, 0-2
They stink but I love them. The rookies are showing promise!
Never miss a thing
