The LSU Tigers are 32-2 and cruising on to the Final Four. So much for that weak non-conference schedule as transfer breakout star Angel Reese continued her SEC record-setting ways with a 32nd double-double of the season, achieving those figures in every tournament game en route to the final weekend.
Is it time for the program to reach its first-ever championship appearance?
The short: LSU was given a No. 3 seed despite losing just two games this year due to their weak non-conference schedule (just two games against ranked opponents). They’ve also gotten a fair amount of luck only having to play one ranked opponent en route to the Final Four. Yet here they are, at the biggest stage, ready to prove their worth against a No. 1 seed in Virginia Tech.
Kim Mulkey’s fits: There have certainly been a lot of them. From the “Kiss me I’m a queen” St. Patrick’s Day fit to the flamingo-esque fit to the Cruella Da Vil cosplay, we’ve been entertained.
Angel Reese is the Tigers’ star: She’s averaging 23.2 points, 15.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game this year after transferring from Maryland. The sophomore has game!
Flau’jae Johnson is the Tigers’ superstar: The guard has made a pair of appearances on America’s Got Talent for her rapping career, and she’s averaging 11.1 points and 5.9 rebounds for a Final Four team!
The Tigers have gone viral several times this year: Here’s the time Reese griddy’d down the court on defense. And the time she licked her fingers after a bucket. And here’s the time LSU players drew rings on their fingers after advancing to the Final Four.
Final Four opponent: No. 1 Virginia Tech
