After a 24-point statement win in which they scored 104 points to keep their Finals hopes alive in Game 4, the Sun met the defending champions in Chicago and came away with a win in historic fashion. It was the Sun team we’ve been waiting to see again since their 2019 Finals run.On Thursday night, Connecticut closed on an 18-0 scoring run to cut into a 9-point fourth-quarter deficit and win, 72-63. No matter how ugly — the team turned the ball over 23 times — their core of bulldozers proved too much. DeWanna Bonner scored 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting with nine rebounds and five assists, Alyssa Thomas posted 12 points, 10 boards and eight assists, and Jonquel Jones double-doubled with 15 points and 10 rebounds.The Sky shot just 34.3% from the field in a game that could’ve taken them one step closer to doing something that hasn’t been accomplished in two decades: win back-to-back titles. The Sparks’ record now stays intact.Chicago scored all of five points in the entire fourth quarter, with this DeWanna Bonner and-1 proving to be the momentum-changer. They didn’t score at all in the final four minutes and 45 seconds! Next up: it’s time for the Sun to do the damn thing. The franchise has yet to win a championship, and head coach Curt Miller even felt like his job was on the line earlier in this series. The pressure is on for Connecticut against the league’s biggest offensive powerhouse, but if nothing else, they’ve proven they can take the heat.
