The Titans have declared Derrick Henry as "doubtful" for Week 17's primetime matchup against the Cowboys. We'll go ahead and assume Dan Quinn and his defense are breathing a huge sigh of relief upon hearing the news.

After all, there’s never a good time to tackle Derrick Henry. He’s essentially part man, part freight train. But when the weather gets cold, and defenders get worn out from a season of intense contact, it becomes a damn near impossible task—and the numbers back it up.

Death, taxes, Derrick Henry running over defenders late in the season.

Some things in life are just inevitable.

Although he was injured in the second half of last season, King Henry averaged 134 yards per game in the month of December during the 2019 and 2020 seasons, including multiple 200+ yard performances.

This Thursday, the Titans are at home against a red-hot Cowboys team. Dallas has won five of the last six games and is a 10-point favorite over a Titans team that has been reeling after losing Ryan Tannehill for the season. There’s a good reason Dallas is favored, but there’s also reason to believe Tennessee might have a potential upset brewing... if Henry takes the field.

The Cowboys have a quick turnaround on the road after an emotional win over their division-rival Eagles. While the Cowboys have been impressive in most facets this season, their rushing defense ranks in the bottom third of the league. If Henry is active, Dallas could have a challenge on their hands.

After all, most defenders would really prefer to not tackle (or at least, attempt to tackle) Derrick Henry.
