The Cleveland Browns are a trash organization for many reasons, but Jacoby Brissett is not one of them. This season has marked the fourth time Brissett has come in for an extended stay at starting quarterback due to their Day 1 starter's.. extended absence.
Now, the team's Day 1 starter is due back next week after his suspension is lifted. He has been practicing with the team for a few weeks and there should be little discussion on the decision to hand over the reins. Yet still, Jacoby should be saluted.
The Browns are 3-7 during this lost season but Brissett holds little fault in that. The 30-year-old is in the top half of the league in passing yards and yards per attempt. Most importantly, he's seventh in interception percentage. A pretty decent game manager who has made a special connection with wide receiver Amari Cooper and tight end David Njoku.
Does Jacoby deserve a starting spot in the NFL? Not likely. But he deserves a roster spot on any team. This week he makes what should be his last stand against an old friend and mentor, Tom Brady. Let's see if Jacoby can sling it around one last time.
