NFL quarterback rankings: Gardner Minshew in the top-12?

The mustachioed wonder Gardner Minshew stole all of our hearts once again this past weekend when he led the Eagles' charge into Dallas and nearly came away with the victory. The gunslinger, playing on arguably the best roster in the NFL, threw for 355 yards and two touchdowns as fantasy owners of Devonta Smith and AJ Brown rejoiced.

Much like their opponents when forced to play Cooper Rush earlier this year, the Eagles barely missed a step and almost clinched the division on the back of their able-bodied backup.

Which begs the question, why is Gardner Minshew a backup in the NFL? If you could plop Minshew down in any NFL city today, with all the injuries that have befallen quarterbacks this season, how many teams would he be the starter for? Let's dive in and rank the NFL's top-12 quarterbacks. Hint: Minshew *might* have made the top-12.

The "Elite Four"

Members: Pat Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Josh Allen

There is no denying it, these four are better than the rest of the NFL combined. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

The "Trustworthies"

Members: Trevor Lawrence, Dak Prescott, Aaron Rodgers

Many Cowboys and Packers fans are gawking at the word 'trust' but these three are certified ballers and can win you a playoff game. The cheers for Gardner wouldn't be shushed, however...

The "Any Given Sundays"

Members: Kirk Cousins, Jared Goff

These two dudes are starters, for sure, but every Sunday they make more than a few decisions that make even the most veteran season ticket holder go, 'that Minshew kid looked good in warmups, eh?'

**The "What the f*ck was that?" Tier**

Members: Tua Tagovailoa, Tom Brady

I can't believe Brady is this low, but it's true. Both of these guys make throws every Sunday that have fans burying their heads in their hands. Some of these seasons have been outright disgusting. We're getting close to GardnerGate but I think the overall talent/draft capital wins out and Minshew is forced to hold a clipboard, until...

I would trust Gardner more than any QB we haven't mentioned yet, the dude is legit. Now would he take the Texans to the playoffs? No. No one would. But would the team rally behind him and would his moxie win them more than the two wins they currently have? Undeniably. I love Gardner Minshew and he deserves two hundred and thirty million guaranteed wayyy more than other players...
