Cam Newton’s (probable) return as the Carolina Panthers’ starting QB against Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera is the Week 11 homecoming nobody expected, but here we are.
After Newton threw four passes including one for a TD, and rushing for a TD that had Christian McCaffrey doing … whatever this is … Carolina’s ready to hand the keys over to the guy who guided them to a Super Bowl six seasons ago.
“I saw some of the plays they ran,” Rivera said in a conference call, according to the Charlotte Observer. “I saw some of the stuff that we had done with him, and saw them doing some similar things. That was kind of cool. Those are some of the things that Cam does really well. We’re trying to guess and figure out what else they’re going to do with him.”
Will Rivera crack the Panthers’ code? The Sportsbooks don’t think so with Carolina, 34-10 winners over the Cardinals last week, favored at -3.5. The Panthers are also -175 ($175 → $100) favorites to win.
But even more appealing are Cam Newton-Panthers related player props, as if it’s 2015 all over again. Consider wagering on Cam to score the first TD of the game at +590 ($100 → $590), first TD for the Panthers at +345 ($100 → $345) or score two TDs at +675 ($100 → $675).
