With a captain's lineage, Peter Skoronski enters the NFL ready to start along the Titans' offensive line immediately. The question is, where does he play? He was a center in high school, which means he is used to being a leader on the field. He started at tackle in college and was AWESOME. Lauded by both scouts and media, Skoronski is a banger. His build, however, has many anticipating a move to guard in the big leagues. That may just be people typecasting him based on his little T-Rex arms. Don't tell him I said that though...
Position: Offensive tackle
School: Northwestern (Jr)
Measurables: 6'4, 313 pounds
Combine notes: He ranks in the 97th percentile for the vertical jump (34.5") and 96th percentile for the broad jump (115")
Where he wins: Excellent with both his feet and hands, Skoronski does everything right.
Areas for improvement: Might lack the quickness and length needed to protect the QB against speed rushers.
Peter replaced Rashawn Slater at Northwestern as a freshman at left tackle and immediately made second-team All-Big Ten. Not easy to do. Followed that up with two straight first-team All-Big Ten selections and ended last year as a unanimous All-American. He was also selected as the Big Ten's offensive lineman of the year when he won the Rimington-Pace Award.
He is the grandson of a former captain of the Green Bay Packers, Bob Skoronski. Legend status.
He once gained 6.7 lbs from one meal at an all-you-can-eat-meat buffet. That's a lotta meatballs.
He speaks in gifs from The Office. One of us! One of us!
The Titans might have given us a hint as to where he'll be fitting into this offensive line with how they announced the pick — offensive tackle! The Titans released long-time LT Taylor Lewan this offseason, where Skoronski played the bulk of his snaps this past season at Northwestern. He'll slot right in as an immediate starter.
(I love the pick. I love Skoronski. I just don't know if I love it for the Titans. Would I love any pick for the Titans, though? I'm not sure. They have a lot of holes to fill.)
