The Chiefs got rocked so hard by the Titans in Week 7 that it’s fair some are starting to doubt them as a Super Bowl contender. Last Sunday, for the first time in his career, Patrick Mahomes trailed by 27 points at halftime, and then the team lost, 27-3. Now, Kansas City sits 3-4 with an incredibly difficult schedule looming.
The odds have never been worse for KC to win the Super Bowl:
To open the sports betting season on January 24, the club had the top odds (+500)
But by Week 3, KC was dethroned as the sportsbooks’ fave (+550)
Heading into Week 8, they’re tied for seventh-best odds (+1400)
If the Chiefs season is going to turn, Monday Night Football may be the time. Kansas City (-9.5) is a convincing favorite over the lowly Giants, whose shaky defense could open the floodgates for Mahomes to get back on track. Remember, two of KC’s losses came by less than five points (four points to the Browns and one point to the Ravens). As bad as the blowout to the Titans felt, it hasn’t been all bad for the Chiefs.
If you’re going to place a futures bet on Mahomes & Co. to win the Super Bowl, now makes more sense than ever before. The odds have never been this favorable to bettors, and three weeks from now, KC could look like a whole new team. Now’s the time to beat the rush.
