This NFL season has left us with many surprises. Some have been disgustingly gross, like Russell Wilson's DangerWich. Others have been pleasantly plump, like Geno Smith grabbing Comeback Player of the Year by the horns and Mike White's rousing revival of the New York Jets.

One of those feel-good NFL stories will perish this Sunday when the two face off with each other on the first day of 2023.

Mike White is back for the 7-8 Jets and thank goodness. Zach Wilson: confirmed trash. When your team is bringing on Chris Streveler to replace you, the end is nigh. Mike White reportedly drank more milk than Santa this holiday season in order to heal the many bone bruises on his ribcage and now needs to win out in order to take this young Jets squad to the postseason.

Geno Smith captured all of our hearts when he coined the phrase of the year. Seattle was supposed to hit rock bottom in the first year without their talisman Russell Wilson, but Geno wouldn't let them bow out. To lead the league in completion percentage and make the pro bowl six years after he was released by the team that drafted him is a true underdog story. All that's left to cap it all off, is a miraculous postseason appearance. At 7-8, Geno can't afford to lose another one.

This is it — Jets vs. Seahawks. The loser will be all but eliminated from postseason contention. In a storybook season, the dream either dies here or lives on to see what Hollywood ending is potentially in store.

Just please, for the fans, don't end in a tie.
